Pungo Creek (the novel, not the North Carolina stream) climbs the family tree of the Foremans, following the lives of people whose tough existence has been bedeviled by poverty, alcoholism, violence, death, incest, and rape. It is a grim, gritty, and spellbinding tale.

Recently, I had an opportunity to see comedian Bo Burnham at Caroline’s Comedy Club in NYC. This was my second time seeing him live but I have been a fan since his early days on Youtube and his Comedy Central special.

Romantically Challenged is a new comedy airing on ABC on Mondays at 9:30pm, EST. It stars TV and sitcom veteran Alyssa Milano, Kelly Stables, Kyle Bornheimer, and Josh Lawson. It is written by Ricky Blitt and James Burrows, who is also the director. The story revolves around Alyssa’s character, Rebecca Thomas, who is recently divorced after being married for the past 15 years.
